The dominant characteristics of Cisco Catalyst and Cisco routing switching features with the blending of switching and routing present effortlessness of deployment, management and configuration. The 4-port Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC has inline power support in all the ports and has 4 10/100 switched Ethernet ports. It uses Cisco IOS Catalyst software and offers line rate Layer 2 switching across Ethernet ports. The Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC has standard high end features like QoS, autosensing, VLAN support from 802.1Q and 802.1P standards and 802.1D spanning tree protocols. Its inline powered version can seamlessly power Cisco wireless access points, Cisco IP phones and any other IEEE 802.3af-complaint device.
